What it is about
Getting to know someone through their feet
Foot reflexology, or foot reflex therapy, has existed for thousands of years. It is based on the idea that there are different zones on the feet related to organs and systems of the body. On the course you study where each one is located and how to treat it.
How foot reflexology works
It works through stimulation of the nervous system. Pairs of nerves leave the spinal cord, run through the whole body and end in the soles of the feet. By stimulating those endings, the stimulus is sent along the whole path of the nerve.
Through the feet you can learn what a person is like, what kind of life they lead and what personality traits they have. Also which organs are most out of balance and which can be strengthened.
Who it is for
It helps massage and beauty professionals broaden their knowledge, but it is also ideal for helping family and people close to you. No prior knowledge is needed.

In class
The map of the foot, first on a chart and then in your hands
With the charts in front of you, the reflex zones are located one by one and then found straight away on a real foot. Practice is in pairs: you give and receive, which is the only way to learn how to judge the pressure.
- Foot map charts to locate each zone precisely.
- Groups of ten at most so each student’s pressure can be corrected.
- Every body system covered in a full massage, explaining why each one matters.

Theory and practice
Traditional Chinese Medicine
The feet and the emotions
As well as working through every body system, the course covers the emotional relationship of each organ according to Traditional Chinese Medicine. In TCM the body and the emotions are not separate: each organ belongs to one of the five elements and is associated with an emotion. When that emotion is felt very intensely or for a long time, it affects its organ, and vice versa.
That is why, in reflexology, an area of the foot that is especially sensitive, hard or tense is not read only in physical terms: it also speaks of the person’s emotional state. On the course you learn to relate what you find in the foot to the five elements, to observe it with judgement and to take it into account when giving the session.
Wood · Liver and gallbladder
Associated with anger, frustration and rigidity. On the foot, the liver area is on the right foot, below the lung area towards the outer edge, with the gallbladder within it.
Anger and frustration
Fire · Heart and small intestine
Associated with joy and its excess: agitation, nervousness, difficulty stopping. The heart is worked on the left foot, below the lung area; the small intestine, in the centre of the arch.
Joy and agitation
Earth · Spleen and stomach
Associated with worry and overthinking. The stomach is on the inner arch of both feet and the spleen on the outer edge of the left foot.
Worry
Metal · Lung and large intestine
Associated with sadness, grief and difficulty letting go. The lungs are on the pad below the toes and the large intestine runs across the sole towards the heel.
Sadness
Water · Kidney and bladder
Associated with fear and insecurity. The kidneys are in the centre of the sole and the bladder on the inner edge, near the heel.
Fear
How it is used in a session
You notice which areas are most sensitive or tense, relate them to their organ and element, and adapt the time and pressure given to each one.
In practice
This is the traditional TCM reading and it is used as a complementary wellbeing approach: it does not replace a medical or psychological diagnosis or treatment.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about the course
Do I need to know how to give massages to sign up?
No. It is an introductory course and no prior knowledge is required. It helps massage and beauty professionals broaden their techniques, but it is also designed for people who simply want to be able to help family and friends.
What do I need to bring?
Comfortable clothes and, above all, short nails: without them the manoeuvres cannot be done properly. We provide the rest of the materials.
How long is it and how much does it cost?
One weekend, twelve hours in total. The course price is €380.
When is the next course date?
14 and 15 November 2026, with 8 places. Places are booked online in our shop; if that date does not suit you, leave your details in the form on this page and we will let you know about the next one.
How many students are there per group?
Ten at most. It is a very practical course and with more people it is not possible to correct each person’s pressure and posture, which is what really makes the difference.
How is it different from the reflexology you offer as a treatment?
Here you learn to do it. If what you want is to receive a session, the technique we apply in the treatment room is Chinese foot reflexology and it has its own page with prices and durations.
What if I cannot attend?
If the course does not go ahead for reasons on our side, we refund the full amount. If you cancel at least 10 days in advance, we refund 50%; after that there is no refund. The place is tied to the date booked and cannot be changed.
